RACE 1: Catterick Racecourse
TAJ ALRIYADH ran a belter here on debut to win with 4 lengths in hand. A strong run like that suggests the extra furlong today is exactly what is needed to keep the streak alive. HESTER PRYNNE was outclassed when beating none home in a Listed event at Newmarket but these are much calmer waters for this O’Meara filly.
Top Tip – TAJ ALRIYADH (1)
One to consider – HESTER PRYNNE (2)
RACE 2: Catterick Racecourse
ALSVINDER got back on the scoreboard at Ayr recently after his turf mark slid to a juicy 54 compared to his 71 AW mark. The return to 6f is no issue and he can strike again now the wining thread has been retraced. ALEX GRACIE was a good 2nd on return at Nottingham and should figure here.
Top Tip – ALSVINDER (3)
One to consider – ALEX GRACIE (8)
RACE 3: Catterick Racecourse
BETTER HALF gets the nod on debut for Mark Johnston as a well-bred sort who should know exactly what to do here. CLIFFORD was a much improved runner up at Brighton recently and should have more to come.
Top Tip – BETTER HALF (7)
One to consider – CLIFFORD (1)
RACE 4: Catterick Racecourse
TAYLORED is an 11 run maiden but has plenty of minor prizes in the trophy cabinet. Three silvers in a row lead to a change in tactics when trying to make all at Beverley in the wet. It didn’t bear fruit but a similar sort of effort in better conditions could be exactly what is needed to open the account. MERRY STREET is dangerous having won by a head over this trip at Leicester last week and should be right amongst the frontrunners.
Top Tip – TAYLORED (2)
One to consider – MERRY STREET (3)
RACE 5: Catterick Racecourse
MACHREE is down in class after being toppled at Listed level at Ayr. She has an ideal draw to make all in calmer waters. DENZIL’S LAUGHING won over C&D off this mark back in April and might be able to do the same in this higher grade.
Top Tip – MACHREE (3)
One to consider – DENZIL’S LAUGHING (6)
RACE 6: Catterick Racecourse
FLOWER POWER got away slow at Beverley in a similar contest and the 2lb drop leaves him appealing at the weights. He won over C&D off a 9lb higher mark way back in September 2019 so might be able to strike up a comeback. GO ON GAL is back on the flat following a promising 4th over hurdles at Worcester. She’s a C&D winner who should be able to go close or strike from a 4lb higher perch.
Top Tip – FLOWER POWER (7)
One to consider – GO ON GAL (6)
RACE 7: Catterick Racecourse
MACMERRY JIM failed to fire on the AW latest but now back on turf the merit of his short head defeat at Musselburgh can be put to good work. MR ORANGE hinted at finding form when 5th at Pontefract latest and could feature now dropped 2lb.
Top Tip – MACMERRY JIM (8)
One to consider – MR ORANGE (1)
RACE 8: Catterick Racecourse
MOTAWAAZY has been in ripe for of late including 2 C&D wins. He’s up 5lb once more for the latest leg but he should be able to get away with this one. MR STRUTTER is respected having won over C&D recently and has more to come.
Top Tip – MOTAWAAZY (4)
One to consider – MR STRUTTER (5)
